My hosting company is getting greedy

Lunarpages.com is a hosting company that I have used for years. They truly have been good to me. They have a great price and great customer support.

I am starting to feel a shift in the love from my hosting company. Let me explain.

Lunarpages has an affiliate program that is very generous. If you bring someone to Lunarpages via your own website and the new customer signs up for a mandatory year of hosting then you get a check for $65. I don't think even GoDaddy.com does that.

I immediately brought Lunarpages two new customers and I was paid immediately. I then decided to put a Lunarpage's animated ad on my website www.TheBestSauces.com to hopefully send more business to Lunarpages which in turn would put more money in my pocket.

Lucky me. I just recently sent someone else to Lunarpages, but this time, I never received a check. This new customer was a friend of mine and I know she signed up for one year.

So I wrote them and said, "HEY. where's my money?" I come to find out that my friend used a $20 coupon that Lunarpages gave my friend. Once you use that coupon it negates the affiliate program payment.

Now I am frustrated. They said the only way for me to get my $65 is to have her cancel the coupon and have her pay the $20. Then they could Issue me a check. The problem is that I never told my friend I was making money off her and now I have to explain the whole thing. So I did. I told her that I would give her the $20 from my $65.

So everything is finally fixed, right? Wrong!

I still have not received my money and it's been over two months. I finally wrote again and now they are telling me that they have a threshold of $195 before they will cut a check.

ARE YOUR TELLING ME I AM NOT GETTING MY MONEY??!!!!

Well, I just fired off a letter to Lunarpages telling them to override their little scam.....ERRRRR.....threshold and pay me the money. I told them that I live one mile away from their offices (which I really do) and I can come by and pick up the check if they want me to.

Now if they don't cut me a check, then I am going to bring a video camera with me down to their offices and I will show you how this unfolds. This could be exciting. Of course if this does get exciting then I must rename the blog "All That Excites!" and who the heck wants to read a happy blog. Bad idea.

to be continued......

Update 1/4/08

Lunarpages wrote me back and told me that they would waive the threshold this one time and they are sending me a check right away. The also said that they have an unbelievable basic plan. For $6.95 a month you get 1500 GB storage and 15,000 GB bandwidth. That is a great deal.

This is why I will stay a customer for years to come.

$10 for a Canon HV20 Camcorder

Do you know how many people will read this blog just because I have titled this blog "$10 for a Canon HV20 Camcorder"?

Do you know how many people would send me $10 for my camera, which I really don't even own?

Do you know how many people would not bother fighting me for a refund?

Do you know how much time and money it would cost people to fight me for a refund?

Do you know how many people are doing this internet scam?

If you don't believe me then go to Nextag.com or Bizrate.com or even Google's Froogle.com and check it out. Type in any electronic device and see for yourself. You will see tons of deals too good to be true. Usually the unbelievable deals are from stores you've never heard of. They are scams and yet people keep sending them money.

I just bought a magnifying lamp for doing watch repairs. I bought it from a company called Grizzly Industrial, Inc. I read some okay reviews on Amazon.com and didn't see anything really bad about them. So I put it on my Kaboodle wish list.

On Christmas morning I open up my new lamp and it was in a million pieces. So I began the painful process of trying to get my money back. They dragged their feet for days and now I am just disputing it with my credit card company.

Now if you go to Amazon.com and do a search for that same lamp you will see a bunch of people complaining about broken product from this company. There is one person who has been trying to get a refund for two weeks. He will probably give up and let Grizzly keep his $50.

Remember, as long as we allow people to get away with internet scams like this, it will continue. So when your shopping the internet, make sure you know the vendor. Make sure you use a credit card. Using your PayPal is not always a protected way of purchase. Make sure you fight for your refund if your not completely satisfied, even if it's $10.

ResellerRatings.com is a website that you can check on retailers to see if they are reliable or not before you buy.

Have you been scammed already on the internet? If so, how?

Why did I vote for President Bush?

Did you know.......

President Bush has not yet pardoned the border patrol agents who have been mistreated by the justice system. click here for info

President Bush is expected to sign the Omnibus Spending Bill which will jeopardize boarder security and prevent us from building a much needed boarder fence? click here for info

In addition, President Bush knows that the omnibus spending bill also earmarks 10 million dollars to pay lawyers to defend illegal immigrants in America.

President Bush has done nothing about our gas situation, and he has done nothing to bring our men home from Iraq.

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, America is about to give Mexico $1 Billion dollars to help them grow weed......ERRRRRR.... I mean to fight against drug smugglers.

As early as I can remember watching TV, every movie about Mexico has shown the mexican government as being dishonest and on the drug smugglers payroll. WHY ARE WE GIVING THEM MONEY!!!!How can we allow this to go on.

As an American citizen I can't even imaging a way to stop this.

I voted for George Bush twice. The first term he did everything alright. So I voted for him again. Since then he hasn't done anything right for Americans. In fact, he has done more for other countries then our own.

President Bush hasn't done anything in the Middle East to help the gas situation. That's no surprise, since the Bush family is up to their necks in the oil industry.

President Bush can't stop giving Mexico money and can't stop protecting the illegal Mexican immigrants.

So remind me again. Why did I voted for George Bush.

Unfortunately, I can't take it back and I sure am not looking forward to what lies ahead in the next election.

What can we do about this now????

Paying medical bills can cause illness

Have you ever tried to get a medical bill paid? You literally have to be a brain surgeon to accomplish this task.

So I get this bill from Los Alamitos Radiology Group telling me that I owe them $115 for an ER exam that was done on my son over a year ago.

I paid my deductable at the ER. It was $50. They took that money from me in less than a minute and yet it takes a year to tell me that my insurance didn't pay the rest of the bill.

Should I wait another year to tell them to try again and bill my insurance? Probably not.

I call my insurance group and they inform me that I was not with their IPA at the time of service. They told me that I was still with Alamitos IPA and not Memorial Healthcare IPA. I thought I had switched to Memorial at the beginning of 2006, but that's okay. I will call Alamitos IPA and find out.

So I can Alamitos IPA and they answer the phone "Hello. Coast Medical". I ask if they are still Alamitos IPA and they said yeah. So I then ask why did you change your name to Coast Medical. The lady tells me they didn't change their name...........I refuse to go any further down this useless path. So I then tell her my problem and she tells me that the Customer Service Dept. is in a meeting.

So I ask for Claims Dept. She tells me that Customer Service is in a meeting with Claims Dept. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING.

So I decide to call my doctor's office to find out which IPA I was with during the date of service and the doctor's office answering service says that they are closed for lunch until 1:30pm. I look at the clock and it says 2:05pm. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING.

To be continued......

Christmas lights. Why bother now?

If you had been standing in my front yard yesterday, you would have seen three of my neighbors putting Christmas Lights on their house.

IT'S DECEMBER 16TH FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!
Why bother. In exactly 9 days they will need to be taken down.

I know some people leave them up until New Years Day, but why? As soon as the last present is yanked out from under the tree, Christmas is officially over!

The last thing I want to see is a tree that is half dead with no gifts left. How depressing is that.
If I am going to risk my life climbing on top of the roof to put lights up, I better get my money's worth. I say put them up December 1st. You get a whole month to enjoy them.

I hope everyone enjoys Christmas and please teach your kids the real meaning of Christmas. It's not about us. It's about Jesus.

We sometimes forget the reason for the season as we fight for the last $98 HD-DVD player sitting on the shelf.
