So the managers/supervisors at ALL the California Starbucks were taking tips that they shouldn't have. Wow!
It seems that there is a California law that states managers/supervisors cannot take any part of the tips made by it's employees.
Starbucks seems to think they are above the law and have been giving the managers a piece of the action. Ouch! I never would have tipped, had I known that. I would have handed it to the employee instead of putting it in the jar.
The San Diego, California court ruled in favor of the employees and estimated that $86m was taken when it shouldn't have been. This class action lawsuit accounts for about 100,000 employees. The judge was even nice enough to tack on interest making the judgment a $100m payout.
Here is a tip for you, Starbucks. Go back to worrying about the customer and stop charging $15 for those music CDs in cardboard jewel cases.

BOYCOTT TARGET!!!!
My friend Adam told me that he bought his son a three-in-one table top game (pool, hockey, ping pong).
Now I think those three-in-ones are eye sores, but he wanted his son to have one and that's his prerogative.
So Adam told me a week later that he realized it was too big and he really had no place to set it up in his house. It's brand new and still in the box. The only problem was that Adam couldn't find the receipt. He took it to Target to see if he could return it for a store credit.
Target said that any item over $20 must have a receipt even for store credit.
Now I remember last year Target gave me store credit for something over $20 and let me pick something else out. Target says that this return policy has been like this for 10 years. Now I know they are lying.
I called the corporate office and complained. They gave me the same story. I told them that Walmart takes back products with no complaints and so does Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
I told the lady that I was going to blog about this unfair return policy and ask everyone to boycott Target. She got really frustrated and dismissed herself from the phone conversation. Her name was Amber and she was no help at all.
There are rare occasions when you don't have a receipt. When the product has a target price tag on it and Target currently sells the item and it's sealed in the box, well then the product should be able to be returned for store credit.
As of today, I will no longer be buying from Target. I just pulled my prescriptions from target. Thank God, too. They begged me for my prescription business and then always took 30 minutes to fill the prescriptions.
I also buy all my DVDs, video games, and music from Target. Not any more.

Homeschool in California, go to jail.
First let me show you the story about how you can't Homeschool in California anymore without teaching credentials. Click Here for story.
California is 48th in the US for their public school system. That's means there are only two states worse than us.
That's why they are forcing us to put our kids in public school. Too many people are pulling their kids out. No one wants the shootings, rapes, fights, drugs, sex, etc.
Half the English teachers that I've met in High School couldn't even form a sentence. I am surprised that the teachers union applauded this court ruling. That would require them to bring their hands together in perfect rhythm.
I can speak from experience when I say we need to homeschool our kids.
My oldest son who is now 18 went to Lexington Jr. High and Cypress High School and Kennedy High School here in Orange County, CA.
He was an A/B student. He had nothing but fights with punk kids who didn't want to be there. If you look at his grades they deteriorated each year starting at 7th grade.
The higher the grade the less teachers cared. Teachers hated the students. Students hated the teachers and didn't want to be in school.
My son began hanging out with wild crowd and it went down hill from there. I continued to discipline him and try to help out with his school work. Nothing mattered. He lied, cheated, ditched school with his friends, etc. His high school influences got him into a bad way of life.
Here's how insane public schools are. We teach our kids to defend themselves. Yet if someone starts beating on you and you defend yourself you then are sent home and suspended for three days. Kids laugh at this. Let me see if I have this straight. I get to have three days away from school cause I was in a fight? NICE!!!!
My son had one fight in 9th grade and two more in 10th. In each fight he was protecting himself from someone trying to hurt him. When you have three fights in your four years at Cypress High School you are kicked out. My son had a 3.9 grade point average and was kicked out of High School. NICE!!!!
That's what public school does for your kid in 2008.
I now have an eight year old who is doing straight A's and one of the top students in his class. He does get in trouble a lot because he has a mouth like me, but I am in constant communication with his teacher and thank God he has the best teacher in the school.
High School and Jr. High Teachers don't care like the elementary school teacher do and I don't blame them. They are told to teach a bunch of convicts who don't want to be there in the first place. I believe teachers should kick out the bad students and move on. If they don't want to learn, fine. Don't hold back the ones that do.
My son's public school has already started dictating things like no candy is to be brought to school and no sodas of any kind. Pretty soon PB&J will be against the law.
My son's public school put about 5 million dollars worth of air conditioning units on every class room a few years ago, but doesn't have enough money for school supplies. WHO NEEDS AIRCONDITIONING IN CALIFORNIA. Holy Cow! That school has survived 50 years without it.
My son's public school sent me a letter stating how the school has less money than ever and it won't be able to provide certain things to our kids. NICE!!!
My son's public school just alerted me about recalled beef that had been served to our kids. NICE!!
Now tell me how public school is so much better than homeschooling. It will be a cold day in hell before my eight year old sees the inside of that High School prison system.
High School is just a glorified babysitting prison. The sad part is we live in Orange County, CA and this is a nice area to live. I can't imaging what it's like in the inner cities.
I will homeschool my son starting at 7th grade. I will make sure he is still active with other kids in the sports that he plays. If I have to leave California to do it, I will.
My wife and I have looked into it and it only cost about $1300 a year for all the materials. He will do online courses and it will only take 3 hours a day. That includes homework time.
Now explain to me why it takes the school system 7 hours a day? Oh yeah. That's right. Little Johnny won't sit in his seat because he didn't get his medication this morning. So we must wait until the teacher shuts up little Johnny to proceed. How about this. Call Johnny's parents, have them come get little Johnny so the rest of the kids can learn. I guarantee if the parents suffer for their kids behavior things would change. Johnny may not be able to sit on his butt the next day, but he sure will be quiet.

Twitter isn't my thing.
So I am in the bathroom reading my INC magazine and their is an article on Twitter. It's says "Twitter - total brilliance or utter nonsense?"
For those of you who don't know what Twitter does, it's like AIM, but shorter. It's a quick snippet of a thought that you can send to everyone you know.
For example, let's say I am watching an amazing show on National Geographic. I can send out or Twitter everyone that I am watching this show. It will go to everyone in my network. People will be on the train or bus reading my Twitter.
Here is what I don't get. Why would you Twitter. You look at your Twitter page and all your friends are sending brief messages around the clock. It's like being in Chat rooms all over again and it's non stop.
I don't have time to listen to a bunch of Twittering going on all day around the clock. I don't want it going to my phone. I can barely keep up with AIM and regular phone calls. Why add another thing to my life.
I have a home phone, cell phone, AIM account, iChat, text messaging on my phone, a Facebook page, MySpace page, Linkedin page, web page, and three blogs on Blogger that I can't even keep up with. Ooops. Sorry. I just started a fourth blog called My Company Sucks.
I can barely breath. I think I am in overload. If I didn't have my crackberry in my hand I would choke myself.
Twitter isn't for me and I can't imagine who would need it. Okay. I thought of someone. The person at your company who answers the phones all day and does nothing. Or even the person who has no life and tries to avoid work by cruising the net. That's almost next to nobody.
Evan Williams was brilliant when he made Blogger. I think he missed the mark when he made Twitter. I do however look forward to what he has up his sleeve next.
